# GozoLife > A practical guide to Gozo written from the island: villages, beaches, diving, where to eat, where to stay, and how things actually work. Independent, English only, written from Gozo rather than compiled from press releases. Gozo is the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago: about 67 square kilometres, roughly 39,000 residents, 18 localities. Most of its visitors are Maltese residents coming over for a few nights rather than foreign tourists, which is why this site covers domestic leisure alongside the usual destination material. ## What this site has that others do not - Wind exposure declared per bay as compass directions, combined with a live forecast to produce a stated verdict and the reason for it, rather than an opaque score. - Amenities recorded as present or absent, so a remote bay is not described with the same fifteen facilities as a serviced lido. - Access, parking and the walk from the car written as prose, which the official tourism site does not publish. - Maltese place names in their correct orthography, with unaccented ASCII slugs. ## Beaches and the coast 18 coastal spots, including dive sites, natural pools, caves and arches, not only sandy beaches. - [All beaches and coastal spots](https://gozolife.com/beaches): Filterable finder with a live best-right-now sort - [Daħlet Qorrot](https://gozolife.com/beaches/dahlet-qorrot): bay at nadur.
