What it is like
Smaller and steeper than Ramla, with the same reddish sand and a good deal more effort to reach. The bay is backed by terraced fields and a few carob trees, and because of the walk it never gets as crowded as its size would suggest.
The wind
San Blas faces north and east. A tramuntana or a grigal puts swell straight into it, and the bay is narrow enough that the chop has nowhere to go. In a southerly or a westerly it is calm.
Getting down
This is the thing to know before you set out. The road down is one of the steepest on the island and the surface is poor. Most people park at the top and walk, which takes ten to fifteen minutes down and rather longer back. In summer a jeep shuttles people back up for a small fare, which is worth knowing about before you walk down in the heat.
