Wied il-Mielaħ

A natural window in the cliff on the north coast, quieter than the Azure Window ever was and still standing.

What it is like

A sea arch cut into the north coast at the end of a valley, reached by a short walk from the road. Since the Azure Window fell this is the arch people come to, and it is still far quieter than Dwejra ever was.

The wind

It faces northwest and the swell comes straight through the window in a majjistral. That is spectacular to watch and dangerous to swim in. In anything southerly the water underneath is flat.

Swimming

There is a ladder down into deep water beside the arch. No sand, no shade, and nothing else at all.
